The Orphanage in Matara is an institution created to provide a roof for orphans, children abandoned by their families, and several street children—those who live day and night with their extremely poor families in a hole between the fields or under a tin roof. Here, too, we operate under the mandate of the local courts and in close collaboration with the Buddhist monks of the Oba Mama Association, who manage the orphanage. The facility is basic, poorly equipped, and inadequate given the number of children, which continues to rise
