Thailand

Every year millions of Burmese try to reach Thailand in search of a better future. To cover the expenses of the journey across the border, migrants often rely on agents/scammers, with whom they get indebted, becoming easy victims of forced labor, human trafficking and drug trafficking.
For these reasons, many migrants have no welfare coverage and must go into debt to afford treatment in case of illness. To help Burmese migrant communities in Ranong, MedAcross has set up a mobile clinic and health training service.

The mobile clinics are organized in partnership with DISAC and St.Louis Hospital: each month health staff reach community sites within the neighborhoods and villages inhabited by Burmese communities with the support of translators to facilitate understanding between the two languages and cultures.
