Myanmar

Public healthcare in Myanmar is very limited: 74% of healthcare costs are paid directly by the patient (out-of-pocket expenses). More than 70% of Burma's population lives in rural areas and many of them are internal migrants.
Wages bordering on the poverty line and the lack of accessible health services prevent the poorest population from getting healthcare in a timely manner. MedAcross is present in Kawthaung with a permanent and mobile clinic that reaches over 1,000 patients in extreme need each month.
